"The dates of the British Opens and Championships in 2010 will be:
Our new (for us) destination will be Stol/Kobarid, Slovenia, 5-12 June 2010. Slovenia is well know for its classic flying and many British pilots have expressed a desire to see the British Open visit Slovenia. We'll have a choice of three take offs to give us maximum flexibility and task variety. Local guru Brett Janaway of XTC Paragliding is our local contact and will also be running a pre-Comp training week to give you an introduction to the area and the opportunity to learn and develop your flying and competition skills. Details to follow.
Our tried-and-tested destination will be St Andre les Alpes, France, 28 August-4 September 2010. It's simply one of the very best paragliding competition venues in the world, and by going at the end of August we'll get reliable and not-too-strong conditions. Many pilots will fondly remember the classic out-and-return to Dormillouse in 2008: a 100km mountain task with 75 pilots in goal back at base with a beer! To give you a gentle introduction to St Andre before the competition starts I'll be running a three day pre-Competition warm-up to share as much knowledge about the area and mountain flying with you as possible. This will be run at cost (i.e. only cost will be transport/retrieve).
Both events will be independent FAI Category 2 competitions open to pilots of all nationalities with either BHPA Pilot or IPPI 4 ratings. The British Championships will combine both events for pilots flying on a British FAI card who hold or have held an BHPA Advanced Pilot rating. Registration will be on the first evening (5 June for Slovenia, 28 August for St Andre) and the final day will be a task day, for seven potential task days at each venue. "
